A good friend of mine was telling me this morning that with all her health issues and hospital bills she's been looking into debt elimination companies. She's been having a pretty tough go of it lately and unable to work as much as she used to. She was finally diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis about 5 months ago after being in pain for over 2 years. Basically, her body is just refusing to cooperate with her and the meds they have her on aren't working as well as they could or she wishes they would.
Anyway, when things started going south for her in the financial area i told her "destroy your credit cards!!!" I knew that she was going to rely on them more as her income dwindled and now she's in way over her head because she didn't listen to me. Not that I really expected her to. I know she had to do what she felt was right at the time and she had bills to pay. A huge catch 22 really.
So now she's had to apply for disability due to the fact that it really is almost impossible for her to work and support herself on her own. She wants to get her debt down to a manageable amount and make it as easy as possible for herself to pay it all off rather than consider bankruptcy. She had considered at one point also applying for bad credit loans since this whole thing has pretty much killed her credit rating. I'm hoping she just gets with a credit counselor and tries to get it all in order so she can combine it all into one payment. That's the easiest way I can think of for her to deal with it and not have to worry so much.
One thing for sure......i am sooooooo glad I don't use credit cards.
PS: I'm not being insensitive to her with the pic above lol, she chose it.
