Unlike my kids and others I know, I'm not really big on texting. Probably because my phone doesn't have a qwerty keyboard. I have to use the number keys and press til I get the letter/symbol/whatever I want. Not terribly hard but long messages can be a pain in the butt. Soooooooooo, i reserve texting for only very necessary times for the most part.

My kids though, I swear they text like crazy every chance they get, even Jonathon. Poor Daniel went through Text Withdrawal when we moved and I refused to pay his cell phone bill for him so that he could continue to text all day every day. He wasn't working so the way I saw it, it wasn't necessary for me to pay an extra unnecessary bill. Now that he's got a job he's practically drooling to get his first check so he can go get his phone turned back on lol.

Anyway, recently I was reading another blog and entering sweepstakes was mentioned as a way to win free stuff. This was in regards to entering free Sweepstakes but there are also some out there that you pay to enter. One such is SMSnia.com.

After reading the site this morning, it looks like it could be interesting. They have some neat prizes including a Nintendo Wii, a cool Nokia phone and some others. For each prize there's a # of persons entering it takes to win the prize. For instance on the Wii, each 849th text wins the Wii. When you text to enter you are notified what number you are in relation to the prize winning number so you know what your chances are of winning. Each text apparently costs 2.99 but if timed right, a few dollars could win a big prize. Seems like it could be worth trying.

Yesterday In my complaint about Megan I mentioned that she's advancing in the American Idol competition despite a surprising lack of vocal talent. Last night I received the following comment:

Posted By Coffee:

at this point Megan Corkrey keeps advancing either because she's extremely cute, or because votefortheworst.com is making it happen

AHA! Just to be sure I went to see who they're pulling for and sure enough, she's the one. Since I flat refuse to believe that there are actually fans that are voting for her to stay, I'm betting that VFTW is singlehandedly responsible for continuing my torment. I'm not sure what *I* or anyone else did to deserve this though. She's just a train wreck. Does anyone know Tyra? Lets get Megan on America's Next Top Model. I'll vote for her on there. She doesn't have to sing, she can just do what she does well. Look cute. Everyone wins in this scenario. She gets a great new career and we don't have to listen to her sing.

Anyway, I guess all the rest of us can do is wait for VFTW participants to find something else to do. They've never managed a winner before as far as I know so I don't see them pulling it off this time either. Well then again, Fantasia, Reuben and Taylor did win.........I wonder if they were behind those? Hmmmmmmmm, food for thought there.

Sooooooooo, as I said the answer is now clear and Megan may be around a bit longer than I had hoped. ::Sigh::

On the other hand I got these other 2 comments:

From Brittany:
I don't watch American Idol-but I saw his version of Ring of Fire, and I found it blasphemous!

You and me both sista. It was supposed to be COUNTRY WEEK. When he actually WAILED during the song I wanted him disqualified for not staying within the theme. I think Simon was right too, that boy better stay away from Nashville for awhile lol.

From Angie:
I also love Danny and think Megan's dancing is horrific! What in the world? She looks totally uncomfortable on stage. Adme is creepy. He reminds me of Freddie Mercury though, so I think something can be done with him... just not sure what.

I love this and i couldn't agree more lol.

As usual I am and this year i'm really not happy. Wait, that's not a lot (look Rene, i did it!) different from any other year is it? Anyway, I'm extra not happy this year. Why? Because Megan is NOT a singer and Adam just creeps me the hell out. I don't know why regarding Adam. I know I was not at all happy with him butchering the Johnny Cash song but it goes beyond that. I think he belongs in theatre doing musicals. I just don't really see him doing his own thing. I could be wrong though. He's not my problem though, It's Megan. She said herself that she auditioned for school plays and musicals and was never picked. There's a reason!!! Sure she sounds unique for American Idol. That would be because the rest of the contestants who have made it this far can SING! I'd happily welcome back Sanjaya at this point not to have to listen to her.

She's a truly gorgeous girl, I give her props for working that angle, especially since it's all she's really got in this competition, but sheesh. And that dance!! What the heck is that? Simon calls others who move in weird ways clumsy but she's unique? Ummmmmm, no she has no idea what she's doing is what it is. I think someone told her once "every now and then wiggle your hips and people won't notice that you can't hit the notes" so that's what she does and it looks cute the first time or 2. After that it's like a tic or something that she can't help.

If this were America's Top Model she'd have my vote in a flash. Even tattooed up she's simply beautiful. There's no question about that. I'm sure she's also a very good person but she's not a singer. She just isn't.

I'm not sad that Micheal Sarver is gone as of last night. He was a cutie but as far as a potential winner of this competition, Simon was right. There's no way he could have won. He'll go on tour though, likely get a record deal and his family's life will be better for it so it's cool. Same goes for Megan. Someone will do something with her though i'm not sure it will be actually singing. Maybe with some work she can be better though, there's no telling, but right now, she just isn't any good in this competition. Alexis Grace was far far better than she is and I wish she'd helped herself more by picking better songs.

I have a feeling the whole thing is going to come down to Danny, who i just lovvvvvvvvve and Adam. Adam will win, which i don't like but Danny has a future in this too so i'm cool with that. Danny will go more mainstream than Adam will and he'll be more successful I think. I can live with that.

Sooooooooooo anyway, who's your favorite? Have any predictions of your own?

I mentioned awhile back that the local Wal-mart located here in Redneck Hell is one of the worst Wal-Marts I have ever seen. It's slowly changing and getting cleaner but it still has a way to go. They also seem to be getting better employees who have customer contact.

The thing that still irritates the living hell out of me is standing in line for 15 minutes to check out and then having to stand in another line to wait to have a door greeter make sure you paid for everything in your basket. This wouldn't be THAT bad except who works as door greeters in most Wal-Marts? It's always older persons and it never seems to fail that I always get the one who can't see. Which with elderly persons is sort of a hand in hand thing. It's really pissing customers off. Why? Because we already worry as it is with high prices in general. Then we stand in a long line to check out, Pay more than we thought we would, prove we aren't a thief before we can leave the store and then when the person at the door who can't see can't find something on the receipt we can't even be all that mad because most of us respect elderly people!!! It's rather fiendish if you ask me.

Usually if I have to go in there, it's a quick trip. I'm trying to get in and out so I can get back to work. It never freakin fails that I have to deal with the ones who can't see. It took 10 minutes the last time i was delayed because the woman couldn't find the dog food on the receipt. It was the first freakin item!!! I finally snatched the receipt out of her hands and showed it to her. I felt bad about it later but I'm just literally sick and tired of this. I sent a complaint to corporate. They had the store manager call me. I told her how disgusted I was with the store as a whole and she assured me they were working to make it better. They do seem to be cleaning things up but continuing to treat their customers as thieves isn't going to continue to go well.

Anyway, now Daniel is starting in this same store today as an Overnight Stocker. I'm glad he got a job..........i'm happier still that he got a job that will keep him from needing to use my car all day. I'm less happy that it's at this particular place lol.

Oh well, maybe he'll help make the place better. One can hope anyway.

This is the longest I've ever gone without updating. Sorry........it's been so busy lately. So many things to do, so little time. I keep trying to get in here to update and just haven't gotten around to it. Plus, I'm still setting up the other blog as well which is going fairly nicely. It should be opening up in the next few days and when it does I'll share the link. I'm still deciding how i'll open it to readers since I want it to be a fairly private blog open to selected persons only. Not an easy task that, but i'm pretty sure i'll figure it out.

Everything is going well and I'm really happy, maybe happier than ever before so I can't complain. I just, as usual, need more hours in the day, more money in the bank and well..........nm what else, just know i need it lol.

I set up the other computer yesterday afternoon so I can visit bloggy friends and drop cards between calls. That'll be nice since i miss a few of you and your wisdom/wit/charm/goofiness in general.

Anyway, back to work i go. Have a great week :)

I got this in Heffermail today. So adorable!

Bear Attack in Churchill , Manitoba , Canada !

These are pictures of an actual polar bear attack in Churchill.

These pictures were taken while people watched and could do nothing to stop the attack!

Reports from the local newspaper say that the victim will make a full recovery.

Work has really ramped up lately so i've not had much chance to get in here and update. Well, I guess technically that's not true. I still have the mornings like i've always had, the difference now is that i'm exhausted and not too articulate lol. It's a good tired though. The biggest thing is trying to get to visit my bloggy pals. All the work applications I run keep me from loading too many web pages at once and generally slows everything down. Soooooooo, I'll have to set up the other laptop in here so i can use both at once I think. Seems like the easiest thing anyway.

Things are really good here otherwise. Kids are having a great time in school. The furbabies are all fairly happy and healthy. Sargie misses Max alot and cries for him at night but I guess with time that will get easier for him. I hope so anyway. Daniel keeps trying to sneak Sargie into the bedroom with him despite the fact that I banned Sarge from the house other than the laundry room. Sarge hasn't grown out of the chewing just yet and anything that looks remotely interesting to him falls victim to those teeth of his.

Ash is preparing for the prom coming up soon. She can't wait. I can though. It's going to cost a fortune but that's okay. I'll work extra hours to make sure it's nice for her.

I'm considering making a new blog. A private one for selected readers only. I've decided that while this will always be my main blog. There are other things I want to say that I don't want seen by certain people. I joke about my stalker all the time, mostly because that's what she is. A Joke. I don't generally care that she comes here to read everything. If she wants to live in my shadow and keep me in her life I can't stop her. It's her choice. However, there are things I want to get out and can't. She's not the only one either. There's my ex and my ex's new gf that keep popping by. Why? I have no idea lol. I don't even know how they found the blog but find they did. Next will come his family who irritates me more than anyone if truth be told. After they helped kidnap my son I just don't trust them. Not that I logically think they'd do anything really, it's just that fear you know? Most of them aren't exactly ummmmmm........well, lets just say most of them are different. Anyway, my point is that other than general life, i'm uncomfortable with certain people coming here and reading certain things about my life. Like recently with Max. I told readers about his passing but the whole time I pictured my stalker with a smile on her face as she read. From everything i've been told about her, she's that kind of person. Max deserved prayers, not some evil thing excited that his death caused me pain. Maybe she didn't do that, I concede I could have been lied to about that as well as other things, but nothing i read written by her gives me any reason to believe that she's anything other than what I was told she is. I wish she'd just move on with her life to be honest. I have. Since i'm certain that she won't do that i'm thinking about keeping this place as an in general blog and a private blog for things I want to really talk about.

Then again, I could change my mind, say to heck with it and bust out since this is my home lol. Regular readers know I change my mind about things constantly so who knows what i'll really decide to do? Do any of you do this though? Have a private place to do your outloud thinking or work things out?

Anyway, i'm off to go visit some bloggy pals i've been missing and see if I can find any new ones I want to get to know. I hope everyone is happy, healthy, loved and has many many reasons to smile today.

Do you talk on the phone often? Have you ever thought about your manners or lack thereof on the phone and what other people should be able to expect from you while you're on it?

I had a woman calling in the other day for something with a mouth full of food, crunching whatever it was in my ear telling me how classy she is and needs this product like YESTERDAY and what are we going to do about it? All I could think was, doesn't being classy typically include relatively decent phone manners? Maybe she's the classiest thing in the trailer park? Who knows really but it was gross and made me wish I had control over making sure her package arrived as late as possible lol.

Then on one of my other jobs, I was transcribing some voicemail messages.........OMG. Do you have any idea how many times people say the word "ummmm"???? Lets put it this way.......if we had to type the word everytime it was said, it would pretty much be every other word. I'm not kidding either. So now i'm afraid to leave voice messages lol. I just know i'm going to sound as stupid as the people I try to transcribe messages for, or well..........they're callers anyway. I think I at least know why these people pay to have their voicemail messages transcribed too! Far better to pay someone else to listen to them and translate what the caller is saying than try to listen to it yourself. Some are just brutal and if the callertalkslikethisandnevertakesabreathit'sreallyhardtonknowwhatthecrapthey'resaying!! Lots of calls have me wanting to type "dude/dudette, get friends and colleagues who can speak clearly please!"

So anyway, to ease my frustration i thought i'd share a list of phone etiquette tips in the hopes that it will spread like wildfire and suddenly my jobs and the jobs of others will be much easier.

1. Speak Clearly and if you don't, don't cop an attitude when no one can hear you. If you're asked to repeat what you said multiple times during your calls, it's a good chance it's not everyone else who has the problem. I cannot stress this enough!

2. Your lunch or snack can't really be shared over the phone with anyone. Therefore please eat before or after your call. When you eat on the phone, it totally sounds like a cow chewing cud and well, just think of yourself that way and I bet you don't eat on the phone again.

3. If your kids can't talk here's an idea, don't let them answer the phone! Why? Because it's irritating, that's why. Don't do it.

4. Unless you are talking to your old deaf Aunt Martha, don't YELL. IT'S RUDE and it makes many of us wish we could "accidentally" lose the connection lol. I know it seems amazing that you can call from 1000 miles away and be heard but it really works pretty well with all the new technology being implemented. Calls are clearer than ever before. Shouting isn't going to increase the likelihood of actually being heard, it decreases it. Why is that you ask? Because when you shout, most of us pull the phone away from our ears. It's a self preservation thing.

5. Flushing the toilet is a dead giveaway that you were using the bathroom while talking to someone. I don't care who you are talking to, that's just freakin gross. And unhealthy too. What if you wipe and touch the phone before you wash your hands? What about the people who don't wash their hands? UGH! It's nasty!! Plus if you're talking to a Customer Service Rep.......i don't care how nice you are or how big your problem is, the sound of the toilet flushing takes over the rest of the conversation in a silent but every effective manner. All the innocent person can think of is that they've been brought into the bathroom and unwillingly subjected to your bodily functions. Kinda like driving own the road and spotting the squatting dog or the horse's humping on the side of the road. So think of yourself that way the next time you really need to go and you're on the phone. You are like the squatting dog........bet ya stop doing it or you at least never flush while on the phone again.
Either way is fine i suppose.

6. If you call a company to order something and the company sells alot of items please don't think you can call and describe it to the Customer service agent. For instance, I cannot tell you how many pretty strappy black sandals Nine west sells. Would you really call them and say that's what you are ordering and expect that the agent has a freakin clue which one you mean? On the other side of that, if you bought a pair of shoes 10 years ago, there's a good chance that you can't buy them again 10 years later. It's the same for cell phones, tv's, clothing, etc. Things change, deal with it!

7. Trying to have 2 conversations at once is a pain in the ass for the other persons involved. It's not multi-tasking, it's rude and lengthens the time considerably to complete each conversation making it not only rude but inefficient. If you are trying to order something with one person and need to talk to Aunt Martha about the bread she made 15 years ago that gave everyone gas as well as almost dehydrating the dog by giving him diarrhea for 3 days, just STOP! Do one thing, or do the other. Not both!!! This is really an issue!! Just because you are not actually speaking to the person doesn't keep them from hearing you!!! I promise!

8. I know you love your babies. I know that when they cry you want to hold them and soothe their little hearts. Beautiful, until you put them in my ear screaming their freakin head off. It's not the baby's fault it's crying, I understand that, but good Lord have some mercy and call back later!!!! Nothing you need to order from me is worth putting off whatever your child needs or destroying my hearing for. If you think i'm kidding, let me record your call and call you back so you can hear it.

9. When you call to order something. Have your credit card handy. There's pretty much not a chance in hell that you're calling anywhere that's suddenly going to offer your entire purchase for free so why in the hell would you call and leave it outside in the car where you feel the need to walk through the snow/ice/water/whatever to retrieve it? Seriously? it's not like I called you and surprised you with the opportunity to buy something, you called ME for gawd's sake! Additionally if you really have to do this, alllow me to give your name and phone number to the next person I talk to who was holding for the 20 minutes it took you to get the darn thing. It's only fair after all, i'm just sayin.

10. This really has nothing to do with phone etiquette but i'm adding it anyway. If you're calling me to order hundreds of dollars of shoes,tv's, clothing, cellphones, etc, make sure you tell your kids not to say anything while you're on the phone about how they have no food in the house to eat. And if they do, pleeeeeeeeease don't follow their statement with "i know, let mommy finish this call and I'll see if I can find some change to get you something". Times are hard, it's not a horrible thing to struggle, but if you can order shoes and your kid needs to eat, hang UP!!!!Go buy some groceries and yourself some flip flops. They sell em for a buck at the dollar store. You get new shoes, the kid gets to eat, everyone's happy!

There, I feel all better. Here's hoping this week finds me with a whole new breed of callers lol. I won't be holding my breath though.

I am not sure when this aired originally, but until I watched it this morning i'd never heard of this. Heffer P sent it to all of us this morning 'cause she loves us. I'm telling ya, I could just whup that man right about now. I love his books about Max and the bird kids, well actually all his books, but I'm only hacked off about one. If you haven't read the series you really should. It's sort of fantastical in a sciencey way which isn't something I normally like, but this time I do. I have awaited each new book in the series eagerly. When I heard Maximum Ride, The Final Warning was coming out I was sooooooooo excited and despite how much I hate hardback books I almost spent the $20 for it. Almost, but I didn't. I knew it would come out on paperback eventually and i'd get it for a fifth the price. Soooooo, I waited and waited and waited. Finally got it!

Guess what? It's awful! If you are a fan of the series and haven't read it, I won't spoil things for you but I'll say that the last half just seems like he forgot about everything the series has been about and went off on a political streak regarding a topic apparently close to his heart. Which is okay i suppose, it's something I think should be corrected too, but it took over the freakin book and has NOTHING to do with the series. It doesn't really even tie in.

Soooooooooooooo, now i'm really glad i didn't buy the hardback out of desperation and i'm going to be really careful about any future books in the series. If I want a political book, i'll read a political author. I really hate it when celebrities do that. They have a right to their opinions just like any one else. HOWEVER, if I want to hear their opinions on political matters, i'll watch something or read something that I know will tell me about them. Sneaking it in just kinda sucks if it's over the top as it feels like this book was. Oh well, I really like James Patterson so hopefully the next book will be as good as i've come to expect.

Some of you may remember that a while back I began having a great deal of pain in my shoulder, unexplained pain. It affected my neck and pretty much most of my upper body on the right side. Nothing helped til I tried Tramadol. Tramadol is a narcotic-like medication. I personally have an issue with taking medications on a daily basis. One of my greatest fears in life other than anything happening to my kids or family is being an addict. Well, wait, I'm definitely addicted to coffee and chocolate and maybe a few other fun things, but not to anything potentially harmful to me. Tramadol, supposedly isn't harmful but it works so well as far as relieving the pain, i admit i'm suspicious of it lol.

So anyway, I was on this medication for a good while and now that I've moved i haven't found a doctor yet to see about this pain. In part i think deep down that I want to prove to myself that I don't really NEED to take this medication to function. The other thing too is the shoulder pain is literally gone. What hurts are my legs. I almost feel like my muscles are knotted like they would feel after a long run or workout.

So this morning, my legs were hurting pretty badly and i started looking for an herbal remedy to ease the pain. I went to Earthclinic.com, Thanks Tamster! lovvve that place, and looked up muscle pain. Most people on there seemed to recommend Apple Cider Vinegar stating that it works for them almost immediately. Soooooo, I tried it and I have to say most of the pain in my legs is gone this morning. Not all of course, but a good bit. I may never get the taste out of my mouth but it works.

So then i started looking up random things like ulcers and other miscellaneous common ailments. Most everything seems to have supporters stating that ACV helped cure their problem.

Now i'm not discounting this, but this even came down to warts being killed off by the ACV. Who has a wart and decides to try to put Apple Cider Vinegar on it? Or drink it to get rid of one? Then again, who reads that it helps muscle pain and drinks a tablespoon of it in hot water. On purpose. Hmmmmmmm, Perhaps it bears more consideration?

Have you used it for anything like this? Do you have a favorite "go to" when you have an ailment?

I know everyone is waiting to get the Tax refunds back. I sure am. Not that I have anything extravagant I plan to do with it. Just pay a few bills and take care of a few things. I'm soooooooooo glad I ended up mailing my return in. It delayed things but kept me out of that big issue with the tax preparation software others I know encountered.

Anyway, if you just can't wait to get your tax return, you might consider a Pay Day Loan. There's no credit check, and it's a short term loan. Used responsibly this is a great way to take care of those emergency issues that come up.
